    Primary Responsibilities

    An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our IT Development department for a Senior RPG Developer/Project Lead, working with a team of highly skilled developers and delivering complex internal system development projects across a variety of departments. As an experienced RPG Developer, you will lead development projects across predominantly iSeries RPGLE-based technologies. Managing the successful delivery of projects will require you to collaborate with a team to plan, coordinate and lead activities across the full development lifecycle. This will include working closely with department leads, key stakeholders, end users and other developers, as required. Your technical background and experience will ensure you are able to analyze requirements, propose solutions, define and execute deliverables, resolve problems and troubleshoot of any software issues at the code level. Other tasks may include end user support and training, integration with external systems, and performing maintenance, upgrades and configurations, as necessary. The ideal candidate will have a mix of development, technical understanding of web technologies and ERP systems and functions and be passionate about technology along with “out-of-the-box” thinking.     Essential Functions

    • Analyze, design, test and deploy enhancements to in-house systems to meet the functional needs of the business.
    • Custom function, screen and report development and maintenance, as needed.
    • Recommend improvements to current systems to make them more cost effective and efficient.
    • Work closely with relevant teams internally to ensure alignment and coordination across operations as part of the seamless implementation of existing and new systems.
    • Contribute to post implementation reviews helping to demonstrate success or areas of improvement.
    • Train users (including I.T.) in new applications and changes to existing ones.
    • Share in the support and maintenance of in-house systems.
    • Maintain good attendance, safe work practices and safeguards of confidential company information.
    • Documenting internal procedures for future reference (including training manuals).
    • Plan, track, and communicate activity status to manager, as required;
    • Translates business requirements into technical design documents
    • Comply with coding standards and other development guidelines.
    • Ensures that all the assigned deliverables are completed on time and with impeccable quality.
    • Other duties and special projects as requested.

    Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

    • At least 5 years of project leadership skills with a proven track record of managing development projects through conceptual design to implementation.
    • At least 5 years with a proven track record of IBM i (iSeries, AS/400) DB2 database and RPGLE language (free-form and non-free-form syntax).
    • RDi code editor experience is an asset.
    • Working knowledge of:
      • EDI Translation tools and mapping would be desirable
      • Web development that is oriented to a Transactional ERP Environment
    • Knowledge of database usage and optimization techniques.
    • Knowledge of SQL on iSeries is an asset.
    • Knowledge of XML, JSON, SOA, Java, JavaScript, vb.Net, C# is an asset.
    • Practical business experience with consumer-packaged goods distribution companies.
