Primary Responsibilities

The overall responsibilities include the total management of Tree of Life’s Broker network, Distributor partners and Non-Commercial National Accounts across Canada. Basic responsibilities include, but are not limited to sales and profit targets, development/training, coaching, sales planning, and “leading by example”. Internal interaction will be a key success factor in a Team based environment designed to draw upon each other’s talents and skills to achieve Tree of Life’s Foodservice objectives. Essential Functions

  • Ownership of the relationships and drive the strategic plan at all Major Distributors.
  • Ownership of the relationships and drive the strategic plan at all Non-Commercial Accounts.
  • Develop and own the Plan and Strategy for Tree of Life’s brokers.
  • Develop and achieve the Regional Sales Plan and Profit targets.
  • Responsible for Monthly Business Review with Management Team, to update progress against targets, new sales developments, and quantification of risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Trade and Marketing Managers in updating and providing information on Competitors, Pricing, and Product Development.
  • Drive sales in Tree of Life’s Branded and Commodity portfolio with an emphasis on driving profitable “Priority and Focus Brands.”
  • Own the Broker network relationships as well as responsibility for developing single and multi-unit regional Operator accounts.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to prepare launch presentations, sell sheets, support materials and promotional activity in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for quarterly meetings to update progress against objectives, training and education, sales presentation skills, and engage other company functions to ensure the sales teams are fully immersed as experts in Tree of Life’s portfolio.
  • Oversee and support the setup of the Distributor Food Shows.
  • Collaborate with the Sales, Marketing and Trade Coordinator to maintain pricing, trade deals and vendor deals.
  • Collaborate with the Sales, Marketing and Trade Coordinator in the distribution of price change letters for customers.
  • Collaborate with the Sales, Marketing and Trade Coordinator to prepare Trade accruals.
  • Overall responsibility of the Sales contracts, from tracking to preparation.
  • Set sales objectives by Broker.
  • Oversee the Broker commissions payments.
  • Oversee Broker Scorecard for the Sales department.
  • Maintain safe work practices, and safe work practices and maintain safeguards of confidential company information.
  • Other duties and special projects as requested.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

  • University or College degree in business/marketing preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years in Foodservice sales and distributor management role.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Experience with and knowledge of the Food Service industry stakeholders.
  • Experience working successfully with Foodservice Brokers, Distributors and Foodservice National Chains.
  • Proficiency with MS Office required, AS400 and COGNOS preferred.
  • Excellent grammar, verbal and writing skills.
  • Must be results-driven, resourceful and well organized with an ability to work on multiple projects and strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • High energy level, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, and flexible.
  • Inspirational leader capable of teaching/educating.
  • Must keep all personnel and department matters confidential.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written). Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, management and customers.
  • Bilingual in French is an asset but not mandatory.
