Primary Responsibilities

The primary responsibility for the Shipper/Raymond Reach Operator is the organization of loading dock and loading customer’s orders accurately per route sequence and dispatch time. Receive, store, pick orders and distribute material and products within the distribution center. Essential Functions

  • Support and participate in food safety programs including SQF (Safe Quality Food)
  • Determine method and arrangement of shipment with supervisor consultation.
  • Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order and/or requisition to determine items to be moved or distributed.
  • Prepare bills of lading and other shipping documents, manually or by computer.
  • Operate power industrial truck equipped with lifting device such as forklift or hand jack to manipulate product.
  • Take inventory of materials on loading dock and ensure that all product is accurately staged, properly stacked, and appropriately shrink-wrapped.
  • Determine appropriate loading configuration, taking into account stop order, product mix and routing to ensure maximum cube utilization.
  • Rotate stock according to date coding.
  • Bring overhead products down to pick bay.
  • Load product into truck on pallets or by hand stacking or a combination thereof.
  • Ensure the method of loading prohibits damage in transit.
  • Check for frozen perishable products on cooler dock and merge with correct order.
  • Ensure all non-food items are also loaded, i.e., pallet jacks, display racks, mail.
  • Documenting the proper temperature setting on the outbound trailer.
  • Inspect the cleanliness of the trailer for any infestation.
  • Correctly inspect and maintain power equipment.
  • Other duties and special projects as requested.
  • Must maintain good attendance and safe work practices.
  • Maintain safeguards of confidential company information.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

  • High School Diploma required, and a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in warehouse/logistics environment.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and fluent in English.
  • Previous experience operating powered industrial equipment (i.e. forklift, power jacks).
  • Proficiency in MS Office required. Computer skills in SAP experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service-oriented attitude with ability to get along with diverse personalities and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of Tree of Life associates. Must be tactful, mature and flexible with good reasoning abilities and sound judgement.
  • High energy level with the ability to establish creditability and be decisive but be able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
