    Primary Responsibilities


    The overall responsibilities include, but not limited to managing the relationship between principals and or Tree of Life Brand Managers for Foodservice, Tree of Life Canada. The Marketing Manager has the responsibility of being the overall general manager for the Foodservice Branded and Commodity portfolio. Main accountability is measured in margin dollar delivery, volume delivery, expense control, and SKU productivity. Other qualitative areas of measurement include the development in heightening Tree of Life’s profile in the Foodservice industry, core / Focus Brand principal satisfaction, as well as Customer and Broker satisfaction. Internal interaction will be key success factor in this Team based environment.     Essential Functions

    • Constantly evaluating an optimum Foodservice Focus Brand portfolio that delivers on both top-line and bottom-line growth.
    • Accountable for overall gross margin dollar delivery for the Foodservice Brand and Commodity portfolio vs. budget.
    • Accountable for overall volume and net sales dollar delivery for the Foodservice Brand and Commodity portfolio vs. budget.
    • Expense budget control and status reporting including issuing of manufacturer charge backs and collection of same in a timely manner.
    • Ensure SKU productivity for items managed are optimized and meeting overall company objectives, measured monthly.
    • Accountable for working with sales to ensure pricing integrity is met. When price increases are needed, all supporting documentation is prepared with proper level to detail and lead-time required.
    • Accountable for preparing and reviewing of minimum of quarterly profitability reviews for both the Foodservice Brand and Commodity businesses.
    • Marketing plan development and execution of all element of the mix which includes overall strategy, positioning, target market, advertising, operator promotion, trade promotion. channel/account specific programs, distribution, sales incentives, merchandising, pricing, packaging, line extensions, research, sales aids, spending and business building.
    • Work hand in hand with the Senior Director, Sales Director and National Key Account Manager to prepare annual business plans by lines of business (Branded / Commodity), by Foodservice Distributor by Operator.
    • Accountable for preparing and presenting regular business reviews for specific (Focus Brands) vendors. This includes preparing for market visits which may include store tours, driving principals to/from airports and dinners.
    • Customer accountability though the sales department for product issues within area of responsibility. Liaise with sales management to ensure TOL, principal and customer objective fulfillment.
    • Development, control and vendor approval (as required) of annual fiscal product budgets.
    • Explanation of Foodservice portfolio performance variance to targets as required by vendors and internal reporting.
    • Ensuring that all brand related administrative functions are processed in a timely and cost-efficient manner
    • Assist with creation, organizing and attending certain trade shows and Tree of Life Sales meetings. Some travel may be required.
    • Support the Sales and Marketing Coordinator and the teams to prepare launch presentations, sell sheets, support materials and promotional activity in a timely fashion.
    • Champion the Foodservice Distributor and Operator RFP (Request for Proposal) process
    • Must meet deadlines as requested internally and as requested by our external partners which includes Distributor, Brokers and Operators.
    • Management of two direct Commodity Associate Brand Managers reports and a close working Relationship with the Sales and Marketing Coordinator and Reade Analyst.
    • Must maintain good attendance, safe work practices and maintain safeguards of confidential company information.
    • Other duties and special projects as requested.

    Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

    • Five (5) years of progressive consumer packaged goods marketing experience with proven track record of accomplishments and results.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales or Marketing highly preferred.
    • Sales or marketing experience in food industry required.
    • Knowledge of the Canadian Foodservice industry players is an asset.
    • Proficiency in MS Office required with strong presentation skills, including Power Point.
    • Experience with Cognos and AS400 preferred.
    • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and fluent in English with above average presentation skills. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, management and vendors.
    • Demonstrated analytical skills, superior organizational and multi-tasking skills, strong negotiation skills, and a working knowledge of category management and analysis of market research data.
    • Excellent interpersonal abilities; ability to get along with diverse personalities and develop strong business relationships, tactful, mature and flexible. Must have good reasoning abilities and sound judgement.
    • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
    • Ability to establish creditability and be decisive but be able to recognize and support the organizations preferences and proprieties. High level of integrity.
    • Should have strong work ethic and entrepreneurial mindset
    • Should have strong industry relationships, working experience with Distributors and Brokers
    • Bilingual is an asset
